The Senior Data Center Operator I joins the Oracle Data Center Operations team to manage a wide range of support tasks and escalations across multiple data centers. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with process engineering to improve operational health, resolve incidents, and ensure consistency across global teams. You will serve as a technical author, translating complex troubleshooting activities into clear runbooks, knowledge articles, and standard operating procedures. Key responsibilities include overseeing installations, rack deployments, and facility optimizations like airflow and power train management. The role requires proficiency in Linux/Unix server administration, OCI and cloud computing concepts, and experience with power, cooling, and structured cabling. You will utilize ITIL disciplines and Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to identify inefficiencies, automate workflows, and develop scalable documentation frameworks that reduce risk and improve operational readiness for infrastructure deployments.
Create and maintain technical runbooks, standard operating procedures, and knowledge articles for global data center operations.
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable documentation for diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
Analyze existing workflows to identify and resolve process inefficiencies through standardization and automation.
Manage high-level technical escalations and provide incident response support across multiple data centers.
Lead the creation of documentation following root cause analyses (RCAs) and infrastructure deployments.
Oversee physical site activities including rack deployments, hardware installations, and facility maintenance.
Partner with cross-functional teams to manage project timelines, capacity needs, and safety requirements during site expansions.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives by using operational data and feedback to refine internal workflows.
What we're looking for
Experience in data center operations, technical support, and/or engineering.
Working knowledge of power, cooling, structured cabling, connectivity, network architecture, and common protocols.
Knowledge of OCI and cloud computing concepts.
Hands-on experience with enterprise server, storage, networking technologies, and Linux/Unix administration.
Demonstrated ability to create technical documentation, runbooks, and engineering standards for technical audiences.
Experience analyzing, designing, and improving operational processes in a technical or engineering environment.
Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies (preferred).
Relevant degree and experience: 11 years of IT infrastructure experience; OR Bachelor's with 7 years; OR Master's with 5 years; OR Doctorate with 3 years (preferred).
