As a Scientist, Systems Engineer, you will serve as the technical authority for complex avionics and electronic subsystem development programs within a collaborative engineering organization. You will lead cross-functional teams through the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept development and requirements definition to design, integration, verification, certification, and field support. Your daily responsibilities include managing system, hardware, and software requirements, performing trade studies, and resolving complex technical problems while balancing cost, schedule, and risk. You will utilize tools like DOORS for requirements management and apply expertise in Model Based Systems Engineering and Open Systems Architecture. The role focuses on developing mission-critical avionics and electronic systems to solve technical challenges in the defense sector. Key competencies include interface definition, verification planning, and translating customer needs into integrated system solutions for high-performance hardware.
Serve as the technical authority and lead systems engineering execution for complex avionics and electronic subsystem programs.
Lead cross-functional teams through the full product lifecycle from concept development to production and sustainment.
Translate customer needs into system solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, and risk.
Manage the development, allocation, and traceability of hardware and software requirements including interface definitions.
Direct technical planning, trade studies, and risk management to resolve complex engineering challenges.
Oversee system integration, verification, validation, and compliance assessment activities.
Provide technical leadership during customer engagements, design reviews, and proposal preparation.
Mentor engineers to strengthen systems engineering discipline and build technical depth across the organization.
What we're looking for
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
Bachelor's degree with at least 12 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree with at least 10 years of related experience.
Minimum of 16 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
Experience in systems engineering for complex avionics, electronics, or mission system development programs (preferred).
Experience leading technical execution across the full product lifecycle including requirements, architecture, integration, and verification (preferred).
Experience with DOORS or an equivalent requirements management tool (preferred).
Expertise in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Open Systems Architecture/design principles (preferred).
