The Scientist, Systems Engineer joins a collaborative engineering organization to lead complex avionics and electronic subsystem development programs. This role serves as the technical authority for the full product lifecycle, including concept development, requirements definition, architecture, design, integration, verification, and certification. You will lead cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into system solutions that balance technical performance, cost, and schedule. Key responsibilities include managing hardware and software requirements, interface definition, risk management, and trade studies. Required skills include systems engineering for complex avionics, requirements traceability, and technical problem resolution. Preferred expertise includes Model Based Systems Engineering, Open Systems Architecture, DOORS, earned value management systems, and integrated master schedules. The work focuses on developing mission-critical electronic hardware and integrated avionics systems for defense applications.
Lead systems engineering execution for complex avionics and electronic subsystem development programs.
Guide cross-functional teams through the full product lifecycle from concept development to sustainment.
Translate customer needs into system solutions balancing performance, cost, schedule, and risk.
Manage system, hardware, and software requirements including interface definition and traceability.
Direct technical planning, trade studies, and risk management to resolve complex engineering challenges.
Oversee system integration, test activities, verification planning, and discrepancy resolution.
Provide technical leadership during customer engagements, design reviews, and proposal activities.
Mentor engineers to strengthen systems engineering discipline and build technical depth.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience.
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Minimum of 16 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (preferred).
Experience in systems engineering for complex avionics, electronics, or mission system development programs (preferred).
Experience leading technical execution across the full product lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, integration, verification, validation, and sustainment (preferred).
