The Scientist, Systems Engineer provides consultative technical direction and guides multidisciplinary teams to deliver mission-critical, end-to-end system solutions within complex environments. This role involves architecting mission concepts, defining system requirements, and developing CONOPS, use cases, and systems-engineering artifacts across the full lifecycle. The individual will collaborate with product owners and engineering teams to ensure architectures meet evolving needs while managing technical, cost, schedule, and risk considerations. Key responsibilities include performing MBSE definition, evaluation, and validation, as well as supporting operational analysis and design plans. Required skills include proficiency in software tools, scripting, hardware/software troubleshooting, and requirements management using DOORS or equivalent tools. The role addresses the challenge of translating customer needs into integrated system-level solutions for complex mission systems while ensuring alignment across a portfolio of products within high-security environments.
Provide consultative technical direction and guide multidisciplinary teams to deliver end-to-end system solutions.
Architect mission concepts and develop Concept of Operations (CONOPS) or Operational Descriptions Documents (ODD).
Define, analyze, and manage system requirements across the full product lifecycle.
Develop and evaluate complex system designs, architectures, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) definitions.
Translate customer needs into technical solutions while balancing cost, schedule, and risk factors.
Perform software troubleshooting and use scripting tools to support system development.
Create and deliver presentations to communicate design activity plans and status to internal and external stakeholders.
Coordinate with mission planners and operational users to ensure alignment with portfolio goals.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree and 12 years of experience, a Master's degree and 10 years of experience, or 16 years of experience without a degree.
Active TS/SCI with Poly clearance.
Experience in systems engineering for complex mission system development programs (preferred).
Experience leading technical execution across the full product lifecycle including requirements, architecture, integration, verification, validation, and sustainment (preferred).
Experience translating customer needs into system-level solutions while balancing technical, cost, schedule, and risk considerations (preferred).
Experience developing, deriving, allocating, and managing system, hardware, and software requirements (preferred).
Experience with interface definition, requirements traceability, verification planning, and technical problem resolution (preferred).
