The Scientist, Systems Engineer provides consultative technical direction and guides multidisciplinary teams to deliver mission-critical, end-to-end system solutions within complex environments. This role involves architecting mission concepts, defining system requirements, and developing CONOPS, use cases, and systems-engineering artifacts across the full lifecycle. The individual will collaborate with product owners and engineering teams to ensure architectures meet evolving needs while performing operational analysis, design plans, and MBSE definition. Key responsibilities include managing hardware and software requirements, troubleshooting, and conducting validation techniques for complex system designs. Required skills include proficiency in scripting, software tools, and requirements management tools like DOORS. Provide consultative technical direction to multidisciplinary teams to deliver end-to-end system solutions.
Architect mission concepts and define system requirements across the full product lifecycle.
Develop Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and Operational Descriptions Documents (ODD).
Manage system, hardware, and software requirements including traceability and verification planning.
Design and evaluate complex system architectures using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles.
Translate customer mission needs into technical solutions while balancing cost, schedule, and risk.
Perform operational analysis to develop design and implementation plans.
Deliver technical presentations to communicate design activity plans and status to internal and external customers.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree and 12 years of experience, a graduate degree and 10 years of experience, or no degree and 16 years of experience.
Active TS/SCI with Poly clearance.
Experience in systems engineering for complex mission system development programs (preferred).
Experience leading technical execution across the full product lifecycle including requirements, architecture, integration, verification, validation, and sustainment (preferred).
Experience translating customer needs into system-level solutions while balancing technical, cost, schedule, and risk considerations (preferred).
Experience developing, deriving, allocating, and managing system, hardware, and software requirements (preferred).
Experience with interface definition, requirements traceability, verification planning, and technical problem resolution (preferred).
