Senior Principal Project Engineer

What you'll do

• Manage the Engineering Work Plan and lead the Engineering Design Review process.
• Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) during the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate design efforts between internal engineering teams, external consultants, and OEMs.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight for multi-disciplinary generation projects including solar, wind, and battery storage.
• Lead and facilitate regular engineering meetings with project stakeholders and partners.
• Provide regular progress updates to the project team regarding engineering milestones.
• Support construction activities and facilitate project closeout to ensure timely completion.
• Resolve complex technical problems by analyzing conflicting data and identifying corrective actions.

What we're looking for

• A Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required (or a Master's/PhD with fewer years of experience).
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology may satisfy the education requirement if accompanied by a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Candidates must have between 2 and related engineering experience depending on their specific level of education.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is preferred.
• Mechanical engineers and mechanical engineering technologists are preferred.
• Experience overseeing multi-discipline engineering work is preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 25% outside of Ohio within the AEP footprint during the construction phase.
• Proficiency in leading, coordinating, and managing complex project activities with internal teams and external partners.
