TL;DR · Principal Process Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing Technical Lead

As a Principal Process Engineer on the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team, you will provide technical leadership to support the development, commercialization, and scale-up of life-saving medical technologies. You will manage critical manufacturing processes, including equipment selection, integration, characterization, validation, and optimization while ensuring products meet quality and scalability requirements. Your daily work involves solving complex engineering challenges by evaluating how materials, tooling, and process parameters interact to influence performance. You will utilize specialized methodologies such as Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and FMEA to drive data-driven decisions and risk assessments. Additionally, you will mentor engineers, lead cross-functional teams through technical hurdles, and contribute to manufacturing technology roadmaps. This role focuses on solving complex production challenges within highly regulated medical device environments by integrating automation and digital manufacturing capabilities into the product lifecycle.

What you'll do

  • Provide technical leadership for process development, equipment integration, and manufacturing optimization.
  • Evaluate how materials, tooling, and process parameters impact overall manufacturing performance.
  • Lead complex engineering projects from initial concept through to full production implementation.
  • Establish process controls using Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Manage risk assessments and execute IQ/OQ/PQ validation activities per regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate complex manufacturing issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Mentor and coach engineers to improve their technical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Develop manufacturing technology roadmaps, capital planning, and equipment selection strategies.

What we're looking for

  • A Bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside the United States, the degree must satisfy requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).
  • Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Broad experience in process development, equipment and tooling, materials processing, validation, production support, and continuous improvement is preferred.
  • Experience with plastics processing, injection molding, extrusion, automation, robotics, or equipment integration is preferred.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership through mentoring, coaching, and guiding engineers through complex projects is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of process validation, risk management (FMEA), statistical analysis, DOE, SPC, and process capability is preferred.
  • Work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.
