Principal Process Engineer, Additive Manufacturing

What you'll do

• Lead the development and optimization of metal additive manufacturing processes, specifically Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF).
• Conduct experimental designs and characterization studies to improve material performance and manufacturing readiness.
• Develop end-to-end manufacturing workflows including post-processing, machining, surface finishing, and technology transfer.
• Translate customer, research, and business feedback into actionable manufacturing technology development strategies.
• Coordinate feasibility testing and technical evaluations at both vendor sites and internal facilities.
• Communicate technical capability assessments and investment business cases to senior leadership.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and troubleshooting support to junior engineering staff.
• Design and analyze studies to solve specific life science questions and translate research into marketable products.

What we're looking for

• You must have a bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience, or an advanced degree and 5+ years of experience.
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical, Materials, or Biomedical Engineering is preferred.
• Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical development is preferred.
• Deep technical expertise in metal additive manufacturing, including Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF), is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with advanced materials characterization and testing methods like Micro-CT and SEM is preferred.
• Familiarity with design controls, product/process validation, and the medical device PDP cycle in a regulated environment is preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and apply statistical or sensitivity analysis is preferred.
• Work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.
