The Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer joins the Ops Technology Manufacturing & Engineering team to drive productivity by leveraging technology to optimize and automate manufacturing processes. This role involves leading large capital projects and product teams within a GMP environment, managing global roadmaps for operations technology, and overseeing financial compliance, resource planning, and vendor performance. The successful candidate will manage the integration of OT platforms with enterprise systems while ensuring data integrity and regulatory readiness. Key technical competencies include experience with Aveva Pi, DeltaV, Rockwell, and Korber MES, alongside proficiency in Agile methodologies, SAFE-Agile, and GAMP software development lifecycles. The role addresses the complex challenge of developing life-changing biotech medicines by implementing smart technologies to enhance manufacturing efficiency and quality across global sites while ensuring compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 and industry standards like ANSI/ISA-S88 and S95.
Lead large capital projects and product teams using Agile delivery methods within GMP manufacturing environments.
Manage project financials, resource planning, vendor performance, and delivery against scope and quality targets.
Develop global standards and best practices for operations technology design, deployment, and lifecycle management.
Ensure all solution deliveries meet GMP compliance, data integrity, and regulatory inspection readiness requirements.
Own the global operations technology roadmap including upgrades, standardization, and site deployments.
Manage the integration of OT platforms with core manufacturing and enterprise systems like MES and ERP.
Lead cross-functional collaboration between site and corporate teams across Quality, IT, Automation, and Engineering.
Present program status updates and milestones to senior leadership during governance meetings.
What we're looking for
A Doctorate and 2 years, Master's and 4 years, Bachelor's and 6 years, or Associate's and 10 years of Information Systems/Manufacturing Process Automation experience are required.
High school diploma or GED with 12 years of Information Systems/Manufacturing Process Automation experience is acceptable.
Experience in program, project, or product management for manufacturing core systems like Aveva Pi, DeltaV, Rockwell, or Korber MES (preferred).
Solid understanding of GAMP software development lifecycle, ANSI/ISA-S88 and S95 standards, and 21 CFR Part 11 (preferred).
Fluency in Agile methodologies for technology solutions and development timelines (preferred).
Experience as a Product Owner or Scrum Master (preferred).
Ability to manage integration of OT platforms with core manufacturing and enterprise systems (preferred).
Strong written and oral communication skills with scientific domain expertise (preferred).
