The Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer joins the team at a technologically advanced drug substance manufacturing plant to lead a portfolio of IS and Automation projects. This role involves owning project delivery, performing cross-system assessments, and translating strategic opportunities into executable plans. The engineer will manage multiple initiatives, elicit business needs, and convert them into functional designs while ensuring compliance with corporate standards. Key technical requirements include hands-on coding experience with the Emerson Delta V Platform, Rockwell FactoryTalk, and Rockwell PLCs. Candidates must possess knowledge of Aveva PI Data Historian, Korber MES, and the Kneat platform. The role requires expertise in GAMP software development lifecycles, ANSI/ISA-S88 and S95 standards, 21 CFR Part 11, and manufacturing network principles to solve complex production automation problems.
Own the delivery of a portfolio of IS/Automation projects including planning, resource management, and financial oversight.
Resolve simultaneous project issues and delays using technical, project management, and business expertise.
Perform cross-system assessments and feasibility analyses to recommend optimal technical solutions.
Translate strategic opportunities and emerging technologies into pragmatic, executable plans aligned with corporate standards.
Elicit and analyze business customer needs to convert them into functional designs.
Manage relationships with peers, IS service owners, business partners, and external vendors.
Communicate technical issues and proposed solutions to multiple levels within the organization.
What we're looking for
Must have a Doctorate with 2 years, Master's with 4 years, Bachelor's with 6 years, or Associate's with 10 years of Information Systems or Manufacturing Process automation experience.
Must have a High school diploma or GED and 12 years of Information Systems or Manufacturing Process automation experience.
Experience in a manufacturing environment within the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industries (preferred).
Experience with Automation/Process Control Systems (PCS), Data Historian, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), or laboratory systems (preferred).
In-depth knowledge and hands-on coding experience of Emerson Delta V Platform is required.
Knowledge of Aveva PI Data Historian is required.
Understanding of GAMP software development lifecycle, ANSI/ISA-S88, and S95 industry standards (preferred).
Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11 and experience with validation and change control methodology (preferred).
