As a Principal Platform Software Engineer, you will join the Cryptography division to lead the design, implementation, and operation of highly scalable services for the Key Management Service. What you'll do

Lead the design, implementation, and operation of highly scalable distributed services for the Cryptography division.
Define and enforce versioning, deprecation, and rollout strategies to minimize downstream breaks.
Drive shared observability baselines, including SLOs and error budgets, across multiple services.
Develop new software features and enhancements while providing technical guidance and coaching to junior engineers.
Conduct performance profiling and optimization to build scalable solutions and resolve complex API issues.
Implement complex secure coding practices and ensure adherence to architectural standards and coding best practices.
Perform periodic maintenance, testing, and automation to ensure service availability and reliability.
Manage project timelines and delegate tasks to ensure timely completion of complex technical initiatives.

What we're looking for

Applicants must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Experience of 6 to 10+ years in a relevant software engineering role is required.
Proficiency in Java or other object-oriented languages is required.
Experience in building and operating distributed systems is required.
Expertise in cloud architecture, microservices, and large-scale system design is required.
Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and relational/NoSQL databases is required.
A BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent is preferred.
Experience in an Agile/DevOps environment, Linux/Unix fundamentals, or cryptography is preferred.
