As a Principal Network Developer within the Network Products Engineering organization, you will design and deliver advanced networking products and capabilities across the full product lifecycle. You will independently manage complex workstreams, translating customer and operational requirements into technical designs, validation plans, and implementation strategies for scalable data center and cloud environments. Your daily work involves building reusable automation, tooling, telemetry, and alerting systems while developing advanced test strategies to improve engineering efficiency. The role requires expertise in modern data center networking technologies including Clos fabrics, Ethernet switching, IP routing, BGP, EVPN-VXLAN, MPLS, Segment Routing, and traffic engineering. You will also work with merchant silicon, optical networking, and high-speed interconnects to ensure network products meet rigorous standards for performance, reliability, and scalability while providing technical mentorship to junior engineers across the team.
Design and develop advanced networking products and systems for scalable data center and cloud environments.
Translate customer, workload, and operational requirements into technical designs, validation plans, and implementation approaches.
Own complex workstreams across the product lifecycle including concept development, design, qualification, and deployment readiness.
Validate network products and production environments while developing scaling strategies to mitigate technical risks.
Build reusable automation, tooling, dashboards, telemetry, and alerting capabilities to improve operational visibility and efficiency.
Develop advanced test strategies and reusable test cases based on incident data and lessons learned.
Create operational playbooks and technical documentation to ensure consistent resolution of complex network issues.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
What we're looking for
Must have 6 to 10+ years of experience in the field.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred).
8+ years of experience designing, developing, validating, automating, or deploying large-scale networking infrastructure (preferred).
Strong understanding of modern data center networking including Clos fabrics, Ethernet switching, IP routing, BGP, EVPN-VXLAN, MPLS, Segment Routing, and traffic engineering (preferred).
Experience with network product development, hardware validation, interoperability testing, and lifecycle management (preferred).
Experience with network automation, scripting, configuration management, telemetry, and observability tools (preferred).
Working knowledge of network platforms, merchant silicon or ASIC concepts, optical networking, and high-speed interconnect technologies (preferred).
Ability to collaborate with hardware, software, manufacturing, supply chain, and external vendors (preferred).
