Principal Engineer, Core Infrastructure joins the Technical Strategy & Oversight team to build foundational systems for OCI’s most demanding services. What you'll do

Architect and develop scalable distributed systems that support horizontal and vertical scaling for high-throughput workloads.
Design fault-tolerant components using redundancy, replication, and automatic failover mechanisms to ensure service continuity.
Implement advanced traffic management techniques including load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting to handle network unreliability.
Establish telemetry, KPIs, and automated alerting systems to proactively monitor system health and performance.
Design complex validation scenarios such as fault injection and brownouts to ensure data integrity and correctness.
Proactively diagnose and resolve production issues while mentoring peers on troubleshooting and incident response.
Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools to manage cloud infrastructure and streamline deployment processes.
Implement robust security controls, encryption, and compliance measures for multi-tenant environments.

What we're looking for

BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
6–10+ years of software engineering experience building highly available, scalable distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Go, Rust, C/C++, or similar systems and backend languages.
Deep expertise in core infrastructure areas including distributed systems, cloud control planes, networking, security, and platform automation.
Ability to lead the design and delivery of complex, resilient, and observable services.
Strong understanding of failure handling, concurrency, asynchronous workflows, and lifecycle management in distributed systems.
Advanced debugging and problem-solving skills for production and performance issues.
Experience with kernel programming and system programming.
