Principal Cyber Systems Engineer
The Principal Cyber Systems Engineer joins the Systems Engineering organization to perform System Security Engineering across all phases of the acquisition and development lifecycle. This role involves verifying and validating system-level cybersecurity requirements, developing secure architecture implementations, and providing technical expertise as a liaison for program activities. The individual will manage authorization efforts, develop supporting documentation, and ensure seamless integration of subsystem architectures into larger systems. Key responsibilities include performing risk assessments, modeling attack paths, and implementing mitigation strategies based on DoD, NIST, CNSSI, and Risk Management Framework guidelines. Required skills include familiarity with security requirements engineering, secure architecture design, and verification activities. The role requires a DODD 8140.01 certification, such as CompTIA Security+ or CISSP. Technical focus areas include embedded computing environments, cloud technologies, Model Based Systems Engineering tools like Cameo, and agile methodologies for cybersecurity capabilities.
Develop and deliver secure system architecture implementations based on DoD, NIST, CNSSI, and RMF guidelines.
Verify and validate system-level cybersecurity requirements to support successful system sell-off.
Provide technical input for subsystem-level cybersecurity architectures to ensure seamless integration into system levels.
Support ongoing authorization efforts by briefing status and developing supporting documentation with stakeholders.
Create cybersecurity architecture and associated documentation to meet required system capabilities.
Serve as a technical liaison providing subject matter expertise to internal and external teams.
Prepare technical documents, provide briefings, and participate in security-related working groups.
Develop procedures and manage cyber security activities in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction.
What we're looking for
Must have an active US Government Secret or higher clearance with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years.
Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Must possess a DODD 8140.01 qualifying certification, such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or similar network/security certifications.
U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
For Engineer Level: Must have a Bachelor's in STEM with 2 years of experience, or a Master's in STEM with some relevant experience.
For Principal Engineer Level: Must have a Bachelor's in STEM with 5 years of experience, a Master's in STEM with 3 years of experience, or a PhD with 1 year of experience.
Must have familiarity with DoD System Security Engineering activities including risk assessment and secure architecture design.
Master's Degree in a STEM field and at least some of relevant military / professional / academic.
