Principal Customer Engineer, Digital Natives

What you'll do

• Lead technical discovery and map complex customer infrastructure to Cloudflare products like DNS, CDN, and Zero Trust.
• Design and present tailored architectural diagrams and demonstrations to address specific performance, security, and reliability challenges.
• Define and manage the scope, success criteria, and execution plans for Proof of Concepts (PoCs).
• Create migration blueprints and provide technical guidance to customer engineering teams during the onboarding phase.
• Manage a variable quota by identifying cross-sell opportunities and ensuring deep platform adoption across the customer lifecycle.
• Conduct technical Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to translate platform capabilities into measurable ROI for C-level executives.
• Utilize AI agents and LLMs to automate routine tasks like RFP responses, documentation, and telemetry monitoring.
• Develop and document internal and external technical resources, including Standard Operating Procedures and best practice guides.

What we're looking for

• Experience in customer-facing technical roles such as Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, or Technical Account Management (preferred).
• Ability to design and articulate complex enterprise network and security architectures.
• Proven track record of operating in a quota-carrying or revenue-aligned environment.
• Proficiency in at least four areas: Internet fundamentals, Security, Performance, AI Proficiency, Coding/Scripting, or Developer Platform Fluency.
• Business fluency in German.
• Ability to travel up to 20–50% for customer meetings and team collaboration.
• Authorization to receive software or technology controlled under U.S. export control laws.
• Experience with technical enablement, advanced AI knowledge, or regulatory requirements like PCI DSS (preferred).
