The Principal Construction Project Manager joins the Data Center Infrastructure Construction team to oversee the construction of data centers performed by colocation providers. This role focuses on base building and MEP infrastructure, requiring the manager to coordinate with internal teams to integrate tenant fit out projects. Key responsibilities include project oversight, risk evaluation, schedule management, quality assurance, and design coordination. The candidate will perform regular site walks to ensure compliance with specifications and manage vendor contracts while maintaining stakeholder relationships. Manage the construction of data centers by colocation providers to ensure they meet schedule, budget, and quality standards.
Identify project risk profiles and develop mitigation strategies to prevent impacts on delivery timelines.
Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers to facilitate clear communication.
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules while coordinating with partners to hit key milestones.
Coordinate and integrate tenant fit-out projects with internal teams during design, construction, and commissioning phases.
Oversee quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet specific design plans and industry regulations.
Conduct regular site walks to verify schedule adherence, coordination, and construction quality throughout the project lifecycle.
What we're looking for
Must have at least 6 years of experience in construction project management for data center or colocation infrastructure.
Must have at least 3 years of experience in data center operations, focusing on mechanical or electrical systems and change management.
Must be able to work onsite in Abilene, TX, and reside in the area within one month of starting.
Must possess strong knowledge of base building construction including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing.
Must have proven expertise in managing large-scale data center projects from inception through startup and commissioning phases.
Must demonstrate proficiency in budget management, risk mitigation, and vendor contract negotiation.
Must possess excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills to manage diverse teams and stakeholders.
