Principal Civil Engineer, Facilities

What you'll do

• Provide engineering design and analysis support for projects implemented by the Facilities Department.
• Perform technical reviews of third-party designs to ensure compliance with codes, zoning ordinances, and operational requirements.
• Compile and submit municipal permitting application packages while serving as the primary liaison with regulatory reviewers and public stakeholders.
• Resolve construction site issues by providing engineering support and developing solutions for production and contractor problems.
• Provide technical guidance to front-line supervisors, project managers, and contractors regarding facility projects.
• Identify process improvement opportunities to drive cost reductions and operational efficiencies across various functional areas.
• Manage the execution of the Plan of the Week to ensure tasks align with critical path activities.
• Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines and safety standards.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer license in the State of Maine (preferred).
• Relevant work experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience (preferred).
• Experience in shipyard or facilities environments (preferred).
• Experience with permitting and regulatory processes (preferred).
• Ability to read and understand schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects.
