JOB TITLE: Presales Systems Engineer - Summer 2027 Internship The Presales Systems Engineer - Summer 2027 Internship joins the Presales Systems Engineering Team to support state and local government public safety projects. Working with Communication Systems Engineers, the intern assists in designing radio communication solutions from conceptual phases through implementation. Key responsibilities include consulting with customers to determine requirements, developing technical strategies, and generating proposals. Day-to-day tasks involve coverage and antenna site selection, frequency planning, interference analysis, system architecture design, and equipment selection. The intern will also participate in implementation planning, system acceptance testing, and coverage testing. Desirable technical knowledge includes radio systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless, broadband, microwave, and networking protocols like MPLS, Ethernet, and TCP/IP. Candidates may also possess certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA, or Amateur Radio/HAM.

What you'll do

Develop technical strategies and generate formal proposals to present Motorola's solutions to customers.
Coordinate the design and planning of customer solutions using advanced communication technologies.
Perform coverage and antenna site selection, frequency planning, and interference analysis.
Design system architectures and select appropriate equipment for public safety projects.
Provide technical support throughout the pre-sales phase of the project lifecycle.
Manage all technical aspects of assigned projects from initial award until final system acceptance.
Conduct implementation planning, system acceptance testing, coverage testing, and system staging.
Update sales professionals and customers on the latest technology offerings and their specific relevance.

What we're looking for

High School Diploma required.
Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree with an expected graduation date on or after December 2027.
Must be returning to school in the Fall of 2027.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to non-technical audiences.
Experience working with customers is desirable.
Experience or knowledge in radio systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless, broadband, microwave, and/or networking is desirable.
Experience or knowledge of communications networks (MPLS, Ethernet, TCP/IP) is desirable.
Certifications through CCNA, CompTIA, and/or Amateur Radio/HAM is desirable (preferred).
Preferred candidates will live in Brentwood, TN or Alpharetta, GA (preferred).
