The Presale Systems Engineer - Summer 2027 Internship role places the intern within the NYC Engineering Team to support State and Local Government Public Safety infrastructure. Working alongside Communication Systems Engineers, the intern will assist in designing radio communication solutions from conceptual phases through implementation. Key responsibilities include consulting with customers to determine requirements, developing technical strategies, and generating proposals. Day-to-day tasks involve coverage and antenna site selection, frequency planning, interference analysis, system architecture design, equipment selection, and system staging. The role requires technical knowledge in radio systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless, broadband, microwave, and networking, specifically MPLS, Ethernet, and TCP/IP. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills to present complex topics to non-technical audiences while managing the technical aspects of projects from award until system acceptance.
Develop technical strategies and generate formal proposals to present Motorola's solutions to customers.
Coordinate the design and planning of customer solutions using advanced communication technologies.
Perform coverage and antenna site selection, frequency planning, and interference analysis.
Design system architectures and select appropriate equipment for specific customer needs.
Provide technical support throughout the pre-sales phase of the project.
Manage all technical aspects of assigned projects from award until final system acceptance.
Conduct implementation planning, system acceptance testing, coverage testing, and system staging.
Update sales professionals and customers on the latest technology offerings and their relevance.
What we're looking for
High School Diploma required.
Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree with an expected graduation date on or after December 2027.
Must be returning to school in the Fall of 2027.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to non-technical audiences.
Self-motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment.
Experience working with customers is desirable.
Experience or knowledge in radio systems, RF, wireless, broadband, microwave, networking, or communications networks (MPLS, Ethernet, TCP/IP) is desirable.
Certifications through CCNA, CompTIA, and/or Amateur Radio/HAM is desirable.
Preferred candidates will live in the Northeast/New England.
