TL;DR · Power Management Systems Design and Verification Engineer

Power Management Systems Design and Verification Engineer joins the PMIC Systems team to develop architecture and verification for high-performance Power Management Integrated Circuits and Power Management Units in mobile, wearable, and automotive devices. This role involves designing switch-mode power systems, performing power grid modeling, and executing PCB hardware tasks such as schematic entry and layout using EDA tools. The engineer will also perform verification by writing C#/F# code on advanced test platforms and utilizing lab equipment like oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers. Key technical requirements include proficiency in VerilogAMS, VerilogA, VerilogPLI, SPICE, MATLAB, C, Python, and VHDL/Verilog. The position focuses on solving complex power management challenges for diverse electronics, including ultra-low-power system architecture, DC-DC converter design, and automotive safety circuits within a multi-domain integrated environment involving mixed-signal and analog components.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement state-of-the-art power systems and circuits for mobile, computing, and automotive devices.
  • Research and design switch-mode power systems for chargers, USB interfaces, and backlighting systems.
  • Perform power grid modeling and ultra-low-power system architecture using VerilogAMS, VerilogA, or VerilogPLI.
  • Use EDA tools for schematic entry, layout, and PCB parasitic extraction.
  • Define PMIC packages, pinouts, PCB stackups, and select external passive components.
  • Write C# or F# code to develop programs that test and verify complex analog and mixed-signal power systems.
  • Operate lab equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers to validate system performance.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience with a Bachelor's, 2+ years with a Master's, or a PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of academic or professional experience using IC design tools, PCB design tools, SPICE, MATLAB, Verilog/VHDL, C, or Python.
  • Experience in designing and verifying full-custom power management circuits, systems, and chipsets with multiple voltage domains (preferred).
  • Experience in high current monolithic DC-DC converters, switch mode battery chargers, device physics, and ultra-low-power design techniques (preferred).
  • Knowledge of automotive electronics safety circuits (preferred).
  • Knowledge of power, mixed-signal, or analog PCB design and debug including CAD interface (preferred).
  • System level design of analog and mixed-signal PMICs, DC-DC converter principles, and ultra-low-power system architecture (preferred).
