Physical Design CAD Engineer
As part of the Methodology, Infrastructure, Silicon Engineering, and Labs Engineering team, the Physical Design CAD Engineer will focus on silicon implementation for next-generation programs. This role involves developing, validating, deploying, and supporting physical design tools while collaborating with design teams to formulate architecture and methodology. The engineer will be responsible for specification, user story development, code architecture, and delivering best-in-class flows. Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting flow and tool issues, improving automation, and working closely with EDA vendors to implement future methodologies. Key technical requirements include proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Synopsys Fusion Compiler or Cadence Innovus. The role addresses the critical challenge of creating scalable, sustainable, and maintainable physical design flows for cloud hardware infrastructure, ensuring high quality and reliability during the silicon design process across advanced processes from leading edge foundries.
Develop, validate, and deploy physical design tools for next-generation silicon programs.
Formulate overall architecture, approach, and methodology for physical design in coordination with design teams.
Create specifications, user stories, and code architectures for best-in-class physical design flows.
Partner with EDA vendors to resolve project issues and implement future methodologies.
Build and maintain scalable, sustainable, and maintainable physical design flows.
Develop flow automation using industry-standard tools like Synopsys Fusion Compiler or Cadence Innovus.
Troubleshoot complex flow and tool issues to improve overall quality and reliability.
What we're looking for
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of technical engineering experience.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience.
Equivalent combination of education and experience to the requirements above.
Ability to pass a Microsoft Cloud background check every two years.
Proof of citizenship, residency, or other protected status for export control eligibility.
5+ years of experience in advanced processes, physical design flows, and methodologies from leading edge foundries (preferred).
Working knowledge of configuring and developing flow automation using EDA tools like Synopsys Fusion Compiler and Cadence Innovus (preferred).
Experience building scalable, sustainable, and maintainable physical design flows (preferred).
