As a NOC Engineer, you will join the Network Operations Center team to serve as the first line of defense for network availability, performance, and stability. You will perform real-time monitoring of server health, bandwidth utilization, and core infrastructure using SolarWinds and Splunk tools. Your daily responsibilities include triaging alerts, diagnosing hardware and software faults across routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, and managing the escalation of high-priority issues to higher-tier teams. You will also perform scheduled maintenance, security patching, and maintain detailed documentation. The role requires proficiency in networking fundamentals like BGP, OSPF, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies, alongside experience with Cisco and Juniper equipment and Linux or Windows Server operating systems. This position focuses on resolving complex connectivity issues to ensure continuous network uptime for critical infrastructure.
Monitor network performance, server health, and bandwidth utilization using tools like SolarWinds and Splunk.
Detect anomalies and triage alert severity levels to initiate immediate troubleshooting or escalation.
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues involving routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
Provide situational awareness and status updates to leadership and the O&M team during incidents.
Document trouble tickets thoroughly and escalate high-priority issues to Tier 2/3 engineering teams.
Perform scheduled network maintenance, including software updates and security patch deployments.
Maintain accurate shift logs and update standard operating procedures (SOPs).
What we're looking for
Must have an active TS/SCI clearance with a current polygraph.
Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience in a NOC, IT Help Desk, or network administration environment, or 5 years of experience in lieu of degree.
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including OSI model, routing/switching protocols (BGP, OSPF), VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies.
Familiarity with enterprise networking vendor equipment such as Cisco and Juniper, and operating systems like Linux and Windows Server.
Exceptional problem-solving abilities and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to support a NOC schedule including 8-hour shifts.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
Relevant entry-to-mid-level certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or CCNA (preferred).
