The Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician III joins the TRANSPORT / IP team to support GIG and Defense Information System Network capabilities within a 24x7 operational environment. This role involves managing incident tickets via ServiceNow, monitoring network events, and performing proactive alarm analysis to identify root causes and coordinate fault corrections. The technician will troubleshoot complex multi-layer issues involving routers, switches, and crypto devices while maintaining the CMDB and ensuring SLA compliance. Key technical competencies include experience with LAN/WAN maintenance, circuit actions, and tools like Cisco, Juniper, and SolarWinds. Candidates must possess a DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 certification and an active Secret clearance. The role addresses critical infrastructure challenges by providing situational awareness to leadership and ensuring the continuous operation of vital communication networks for national security organizations.
Create, update, and manage incident tickets using ServiceNow/ITSM systems.
Monitor network events and failures 24/7/365 using various monitoring tools.
Analyze alarms to identify root causes and coordinate fault corrections.
Provide situational awareness and status updates to leadership and impacted communities.
Troubleshoot, test, and diagnose issues with complex network elements like routers and switches.
Restore networks to full operation while ensuring compliance with established SLAs.
Train and mentor Network controllers on SOPs, tools, and technical procedures.
Provide advanced technical guidance for multi-layer complex issues across various domains.
What we're looking for
Must have DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (e.g., Security+ CE) by the start date.
Must possess an active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
High school diploma and 2-4 years of experience required.
Experience in alarm surveillance, fault management, LAN/WAN maintenance, or performance management.
Advanced knowledge in at least four areas including routers, switches, crypto devices, DSN/DRSN, Video Services, Promina, CISCO, Juniper, MSPP, DWDM, or Optical Switching.
Moderate understanding of network topologies, including both transport and IP.
Experience in a tech control facility, cyber transport operations, Telco NOC, or plant operations (preferred).
Additional certifications such as CCNA, CYSA+, CASP, CCNP, JNCIE-ENT, JNCIA-Junos, WCNA, CCIE, F5, ITILv4, CCA-N, CCA-V, or SolarWinds (preferred).
