The Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician III joins the TRANSPORT / IP team to support GIG capabilities and services within a 24x7 global operations environment. This role involves monitoring network events, performing incident correlation, and conducting fault analysis to resolve alarm conditions across various infrastructures. The technician manages tickets in Remedy, coordinates with service providers for circuit rerouting, and provides situational awareness to leadership regarding outages or degradations. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting hardware, software, and circuits while ensuring service restoration meets established SLAs. Required technical expertise includes routers, switches, crypto devices, routing, DSN/DRSN, Video Services, Promina, CISCO, Juniper, MSPP, DWDM, and Optical Switching. Candidates must possess a Security+ CE certification and an active Secret clearance to support the Defense Information System Network for national security organizations.
Monitor network events and element management failures in real-time across multiple monitoring tools on a 24/7 basis.
Create, update, and track incident tickets using the Remedy system to ensure accurate documentation of issues.
Perform fault analysis by identifying root causes, isolating failed hardware or software, and determining impact on services.
Coordinate with external service providers to resolve outages and ensure network restoration meets established SLAs.
Execute rerouting and normalization of circuits following outages, degradations, or authorized service interruptions.
Provide situational awareness updates to leadership and the impacted community using approved communication methods.
Offer technical advice and troubleshooting support to peers and customers to resolve complex networking issues.
Assist in training network controllers and providing feedback on standard operating procedures and tools.
What we're looking for
Must have a DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE, or equivalent) at start date.
Must possess an active Secret security clearance and be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
Ability to work in a 24/7 operation.
High school diploma and 2-4 years of experience.
Experience with one or more of the following: alarm surveillance, fault management, LAN maintenance, or performance management.
Expertise in three or more of the following: routers, switches, crypto devices, routing, DSN/DRSN, Video Services, Promina, CISCO, Juniper, MSPP, DWDM, or Optical Switching.
General understanding of network topologies, both transport and IP.
Tech control facility, cyber transport, circuit actions, vendor experience, IP architecture, or Telco NOC experience (preferred).
