JOB TITLE: Multidisciplinary Manager (Software Engineering) - FDE
The Multidisciplinary Manager joins the Frontier Company Engineering team to lead a cross-discipline engineering crew within a Forward Deployed Engineering model. You will manage a portfolio of work, owning the full lifecycle from problem definition to deployed solutions while coaching engineers, data scientists, and product managers. Your daily responsibilities include modeling engineering excellence, providing career development, and championing AI-forward hypervelocity engineering. You will build scalable, production-ready solutions for complex organizations by applying AI advancements and reusable patterns. Required technical skills include proficiency in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. The role focuses on solving tough customer challenges by designing, deploying, and operating AI or LLM-based solutions, including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented approaches, model tuning, and performance monitoring.
Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team to deliver scalable, production-ready solutions for customers.
Provide coaching, career development, and performance support for software engineers, data scientists, and program managers.
Act as a player-coach by taking on selected engagements and modeling engineering fundamentals.
Partner with leadership to maintain healthy team rhythms and operational excellence across all engagements.
Elevate engineering practices by sharing reusable patterns, accelerators, and continuous learning resources.
Guide teams in applying responsible AI practices and integrating emerging AI capabilities into customer solutions.
Own the full delivery lifecycle from initial problem definition to deployed production solutions.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages like C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
Equivalent experience to the required degree and years of technical engineering experience.
Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 12+ years of technical engineering experience (preferred).
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 15+ years of technical engineering experience (preferred).
6+ years of people management experience (preferred).
3+ years of customer-facing, project-delivery, professional services, and/or consulting experience (preferred).
Experience designing, deploying, and operating AI or LLM-based solutions (preferred).
