LRU Technician
The LRU Technician joins the manufacturing production team to perform assembly, repair, testing, and replacement of Line Replaceable Units for complex systems. This role involves executing precise electromechanical assembly of flight and development avionics hardware, including PCBAs integration, harness routing, thermal interface installation, and enclosure assembly. The technician will interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics while performing functional testing to ensure compliance with specifications. Key responsibilities include managing polymeric processes like potting and conformal coating, maintaining accurate build records for traceability, and troubleshooting issues alongside engineering teams. Required skills include proficiency in electrical and mechanical systems, experience with tools such as oscilloscopes and multimeters, and knowledge of aerospace standards. The role addresses the technical challenge of ensuring operational readiness and quality standards within a high-mix production environment involving frequent design changes for flight hardware.
Perform electromechanical assembly of flight and development avionics hardware including PCBAs, harness routing, and enclosure assembly.
Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and work instructions to ensure accurate production.
Conduct functional testing on avionics assemblies to verify compliance with technical specifications.
Apply polymeric processes such as potting, encapsulation, bonding, and conformal coating to electronic components.
Maintain detailed build records and ensure full traceability of parts in accordance with aerospace standards.
Identify and document non-conformances or build issues for engineering and quality teams.
Execute component cleaning and handling according to strict military and aerospace standards.
What we're looking for
High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical certification or an associate degree is preferred.
Previous experience as an LRU technician in aerospace, defense, telecommunications, or related industries is required.
Proficiency in electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems related to Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) is required.
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals is required.
Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and functional test systems is required.
Experience in military or aerospace production environments with high standards for quality and traceability is preferred.
Certifications in NASA-STD-8739.3, IPC-A-610 (Class 3), IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Class 3), J-STD-001 (Class 3), or IPC-CC-830 are preferred.
Ability to perform electromechanical assembly, including harness routing, thermal interface installation, and polymeric process applications like potting and coating.
