As a Lead Software Engineer: Java/AWS within the Consumer and Community Banking Cobranded Cards team, you will serve as a core technical contributor in an agile environment. The role requires expertise in Java, Spring, AWS, event streaming, SQL, NoSQL databases like Oracle or Cassandra, and building RESTful backend applications using Spring Boot. You must possess skills in Microservices Design Patterns, CI/CD, and experience with banking and digital wallets.

What you'll do

Develop high-quality production code while reviewing and debugging code written by other team members.
Design and implement creative software solutions to solve complex technical problems beyond conventional approaches.
Identify and automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve system operational stability.
Lead evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical feasibility.
Lead communities of practice to promote the adoption of leading-edge technologies across the engineering organization.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Establish validation standards for AI-generated outputs, including security, performance, and peer review protocols.
Utilize SDLC toolchains and automation capabilities to increase the value realized by automated processes.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Experience in Java, Spring, AWS, event streaming, SQL, NoSQL databases, and building RESTful backend applications using Spring Boot.
Proficiency in designing, building, and maintaining API services with knowledge of Microservices Design Patterns.
Proficiency in automation, continuous delivery methods, and all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Advanced understanding of agile methodologies including CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools while ensuring security and performance standards.
Experience with banking and digital wallets (preferred); AWS Certification (preferred).
