As a Lead Software Engineer within the Consumer & Community Banking – SB Lending Tech team, you will join an agile team focused on building and delivering secure, stable, and scalable technology products. You will lead the end-to-end design and delivery of scalable Java services and APIs, architecting cloud-native solutions on Amazon Web Services. Your daily work involves mentoring engineers, optimizing data pipelines using Databricks and Apache Spark, and driving engineering excellence through continuous integration and automated testing. You will utilize Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, SQL, and Kafka while managing AI-assisted engineering practices for code quality and incident analysis. This role solves complex problems across distributed systems, cloud, and artificial intelligence to improve user experience and automate key workflows within the lending technology space.

What you'll do

Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of scalable Java services and APIs for production environments.
Architect and implement cloud-native solutions on Amazon Web Services using reliable and cost-aware patterns.
Mentor engineers through code reviews, design guidance, and the establishment of pragmatic engineering standards.
Build and optimize data pipelines using Databricks and Apache Spark for large-scale analytics and machine learning.
Drive engineering excellence through continuous integration, automated testing, and secure software development practices.
Govern the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Define technical strategies with product and data partners to automate workflows and improve user experience.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Advanced Java experience, including building Spring Boot-based services in a microservices architecture.
Hands-on experience building cloud-native applications on Amazon Web Services.
Experience with continuous integration, delivery, and modern build/version control practices like Git, Maven, or Gradle.
Proficiency with automated testing frameworks like JUnit and experience with relational databases and SQL.
Knowledge of messaging and integration patterns, including event streaming technologies such as Kafka.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and responsible AI practices.
Basic Python scripting knowledge (preferred).
