As a Lead Software Engineer - Java/AWS within the Consumer and Community Banking team, you will serve as a core technical contributor in an agile environment to build and deliver stable, scalable technology products. You will utilize Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and various databases including Postgres, Cassandra, MongoDB, and Redis. Additionally, you will manage CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins while ensuring observability through Splunk and Grafana to maintain operational stability across the firm's diverse business functions and information architecture.

What you'll do

Develop secure, high-quality production code while reviewing and debugging code written by other team members.
Design and implement RESTful web services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot within microservices architectures.
Drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Define cloud infrastructure as code using Terraform and manage services on AWS platforms.
Containerize and orchestrate applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
Manage event streaming solutions and integrate various relational and NoSQL databases like Postgres and Cassandra.
Automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve the operational stability of software systems.
Lead technical evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams to assess architectural designs and system applicability.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
5+ years of applied experience in software engineering.
Proficiency developing backend services in Java with Spring Boot within microservices architectures.
Ability to design and implement RESTful web services and APIs.
Hands-on experience defining cloud infrastructure as code with Terraform and operating services on AWS.
Experience containerizing and orchestrating applications with Docker and Kubernetes.
Practical experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including Postgres, Cassandra, MongoDB, and Redis.
Experience building and maintaining event streaming solutions using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
