As a Java Lead Software Engineer within the Commercial and Investment Bank, you will join an agile team focused on building and delivering secure, stable, and scalable market-leading technology products. You will serve as a core technical contributor responsible for designing creative software solutions, developing high-quality production code, and troubleshooting complex problems across various business functions. Your daily work involves driving the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed while ensuring secure coding standards. You will utilize a technical stack including Java, Spring, AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, MQ, Cassandra, Oracle, PowerMock, JMeter, Splunk, Grafana, and Dynatrace. Additionally, you will manage automation through Jenkins and Spinnaker, work with distributed caching like Gemfire or Redis, and evaluate architectural designs from external vendors to ensure system stability and performance.
Develop secure, high-quality production code while reviewing and debugging code written by other team members.
Design and implement creative software solutions that solve complex technical problems beyond conventional approaches.
Drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Establish consistent validation standards for secure coding, peer reviews, and automated testing across the team.
Identify and automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve the operational stability of software systems.
Lead evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical applicability.
Utilize automation capabilities within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to increase overall value.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 5 plus years of applied experience.
Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Advanced level design skills.
Advanced proficiency in programming languages and tools including Java, Spring, AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, MQ, Cassandra, Oracle, PowerMock, JMeter, Splunk, Grafana, and Dynatrace.
Proficiency in automation, continuous delivery methods, and advanced understanding of agile methodologies.
Demonstrated proficiency in cloud-native technologies and experience with data streaming technologies like Apache Kafka.
Experience leading the use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools while ensuring security and compliance.
Experience with distributed caching (Gemfire or Redis), behavior-driven development, and various database technologies (preferred).
