As a Java Lead Software Engineer within the Commercial and Investment Bank, you will join an agile team to build and deliver trusted, scalable technology products. You will serve as a core technical contributor, designing creative software solutions, developing high-quality production code, and troubleshooting complex technical problems. Your daily work involves driving team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed. You will utilize a technical stack including Java, Spring, AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, MQ, Cassandra, Oracle, PowerMock, JMeter, Splunk, Grafana, and Dynatrace. You must apply expertise in automation, continuous delivery, and cloud-native technologies to ensure application resiliency. This role focuses on solving architectural challenges, automating issue remediation, and evaluating external vendor technologies to support critical business objectives.
Develop secure, high-quality production code and perform code reviews and debugging for other team members.
Design and execute creative software solutions to solve complex technical problems beyond conventional approaches.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Establish consistent validation standards for secure coding, peer reviews, and automated testing.
Identify and automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve the operational stability of software systems.
Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to probe architectural designs and technical credentials.
Apply knowledge of SDLC toolchains and automation capabilities to improve overall development value.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 5 plus years of applied experience.
Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Advanced level design skills.
Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Java, Spring, AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, MQ, Cassandra, Oracle, PowerMock, JMeter, Splunk, Grafana, and Dynatrace.
Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including continuous integration and delivery, application resiliency, and security.
Demonstrated proficiency in cloud-native technologies, including Amazon Web Services and Kubernetes.
Experience with data streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka and message queuing systems.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of enterprise-authorized, AI-assisted software development tools and coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
Experience with distributed caching platforms such as Gemfire or Redis (preferred).
Experience with behavior-driven development using Cucumber and continuous integration using Jenkins and Spinnaker (preferred).
Experience with database technologies such as Postgres, Oracle, and Mongo DB (preferred).
Exceptional client relationship skills and the ability to self-drive delivery and take ownership end to end (preferred).
