JOB TITLE: Lead Software Engineer - Java Backend Lead +AWS As a Lead Software Engineer within the Commercial & Community Banking division, you will join an agile team to build and deliver secure, scalable, and stable market-leading technology products. You will be responsible for designing creative software solutions, developing high-quality production code, and troubleshooting complex technical problems. You will utilize Java 17, Spring Framework, and AWS services including EKS, S3, and RDS. Technical requirements include proficiency with Maven, Jenkins, and Git, alongside expertise in SOAP/RESTful Web Services and web security protocols like OAUTH2. You will lead communities of practice and evaluate external vendor architectures to improve operational stability.

What you'll do

Develop secure, high-quality production code and perform code reviews and debugging for other team members.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Establish consistent validation standards for secure coding, peer reviews, and automated testing.
Identify and automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve the operational stability of software systems.
Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to probe architectural designs and technical credentials.
Lead communities of practice to drive the awareness and adoption of leading-edge technologies.
Architect, deploy, and operate cloud-native services using AWS infrastructure.
Apply knowledge of SDLC toolchains and automation capabilities to improve overall development value.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Advanced proficiency in J2EE and Core Java, including Java 17 features like annotations, streaming, and multithreading.
Experience with Spring Framework for building SOAP/RESTful Web Services, MVC, and Spring Boot.
Strong AWS experience architecting, deploying, and operating cloud-native services like IAM, VPC, EC2, EKS, SQS, S3, RDS, and Secrets Manager.
Experience with build and integration tools including JIRA, Maven, Git, Jenkins, GitHub, and BitBucket.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and coaching engineers on responsible AI use.
Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability using Agile methodologies.
Proficiency in automation, continuous delivery (CI/CD), and web security including OAUTH2, Kerberos, and Cross Site Scripting.
In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems (preferred).
Practical cloud native experience (preferred).
