As a Lead Software Engineer within the Consumer and Community Banking team, you will serve as a core technical contributor responsible for delivering critical technology solutions across various business functions. You will design, develop, and troubleshoot end-to-end cloud-native, microservices-based applications while driving the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed. Your daily work involves building scalable, secure products using domain modeling techniques and ensuring high-quality production code through peer reviews and automated testing. You will utilize a technical stack including Java, Springboot, Node.js, SQL, NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP. The role focuses on solving complex problems in the banking domain by building resilient systems that eliminate single points of failure while managing tools within the software development life cycle and CI/CD pipelines.
Design and develop cloud-native, microservices-based applications using modern architectural patterns for scalability and reliability.
Implement AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and automated testing outcomes.
Develop secure, high-quality production code while performing peer reviews and debugging for other team members.
Use domain modeling techniques to structure software for clarity, testability, and long-term evolution.
Identify and automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve overall system stability.
Lead communities of practice to drive adoption of leading-edge technologies across the engineering organization.
Ensure all AI-assisted development follows strict security, data sensitivity, and compliance standards.
Design systems that eliminate single points of failure to ensure zero-downtime releases and optimized performance.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, system design, development, testing, and operations.
Proficiency in back-end technologies like Java, Springboot, or Node.js to build microservices-based applications.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools while ensuring outputs are validated for correctness, performance, and security.
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling, and coaching others on compliant adoption.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), distributed systems, and web technologies like RESTful APIs, WebSockets, and JSON.
Hands-on experience designing and building scalable applications using SQL and NoSQL databases.
Advanced understanding of CI/CD, application resiliency, security, and agile methodologies like Scrum.
Strong soft skills including presentation, negotiation, mentoring, stakeholder management, and communication (preferred); banking domain experience and AWS certification (preferred).
