Lead Software Engineer - Java, Spring, Cloud
As a Lead Software Engineer within the Consumer and Community Banking team, you will serve as a core technical contributor delivering critical technology solutions to support business objectives. You will design and build cloud-native, microservices-based applications, focusing on creating scalable, secure, and reliable systems that avoid single points of failure. Your daily responsibilities include developing high-quality production code, performing technical troubleshooting, and leading the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices for code review and test acceleration. You will utilize Java, Springboot, Node.js, SQL, and NoSQL databases while working with AWS, Azure, or GCP. The role requires applying domain modeling techniques to solve complex business problems, ensuring application resiliency, and managing the full software development life cycle through CI/CD and agile methodologies.
Design and develop cloud-native, microservices-based applications using modern architectural patterns.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Develop secure, high-quality production code and perform code reviews and debugging for other engineers.
Use domain modeling techniques to structure software for clarity, testability, and evolution.
Identify and automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability.
Design scalable solutions that avoid single points of failure and ensure zero-downtime releases.
Coach engineers on the safe, compliant, and responsible use of AI tools within engineering workflows.
Lead communities of practice to drive the awareness and use of leading-edge technologies.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering.
Proficiency in back-end technologies like Java, Springboot, or Node.js with experience building microservices-based applications.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and setting validation standards for AI outputs.
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), distributed systems, RESTful APIs, WebSockets, and JSON.
Hands-on experience designing and building scalable applications using SQL and NoSQL databases.
Proficiency in automation, continuous delivery methods, and agile methodologies such as CI/CD.
Strong soft skills including presentation, negotiation, mentoring, and stakeholder management (preferred); experience in the banking domain (preferred); AWS certification (preferred).
