The Lead Software Engineering - Python role sits within the Infrastructure Platforms team, where you will develop and deliver trusted, market-leading technology products. You will be responsible for designing and building secure, cloud-native, microservices-based applications that ensure zero-downtime releases and optimized data performance. Your daily work involves executing creative software solutions, performing technical troubleshooting, and leading communities of practice to drive the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices. You will utilize a technical stack including Python, Flask, Django, Java, and Spring Boot, while working with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms. Key responsibilities include managing SQL and NoSQL databases, developing RESTful APIs, and implementing CI/CD pipelines. You will solve complex problems by applying domain modeling to create scalable, reliable systems within a secure production environment.
Design and develop end-to-end cloud-native, microservices-based applications using modern architectural patterns.
Write secure, high-quality production code and perform code reviews and debugging for other team members.
Build scalable solutions that avoid single points of failure and ensure zero-downtime releases.
Use domain modeling techniques to structure software for clarity, testability, and long-term evolution.
Identify and automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability.
Drive the adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices and validation standards.
Lead communities of practice to promote the use of leading-edge technologies across the engineering organization.
Apply knowledge of SDLC toolchains to improve the value of automation at scale.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering.
Proficiency in back-end technologies like Python, Flask, and Django to build microservices-based applications.
Hands-on development experience with Java and Spring/Spring Boot for building and supporting services.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), distributed systems, RESTful APIs, WebSockets, and JSON.
Hands-on experience designing and building scalable applications using SQL and NoSQL databases.
Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and coaching others on compliant usage.
Strong soft skills including presentation, negotiation, mentoring, and stakeholder management (preferred); experience in the banking domain (preferred); AWS certification (preferred).
