Lead Software Engineer - Java, Spring, AWS, AI joins the Consumer & Community Banking team to build and deliver secure, stable, and scalable market-leading technology products. As a core technical contributor, you will design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions while driving the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices for code review, refactoring, and test acceleration. You will manage the full software development life cycle, lead communities of practice, and evaluate architectural designs with external vendors. The role requires expertise in Java 17, the Spring ecosystem (Core, Boot, Cloud), RESTful APIs, and cloud platforms like AWS or PCF. You must possess strong computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures, while ensuring responsible AI usage regarding data sensitivity and security within high-quality production code for mission-critical enterprise applications in the financial services industry.
Develop secure, high-quality production code using Java and the Spring ecosystem.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Establish validation standards for AI-generated outputs including security, performance, and peer review.
Identify and automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve system operational stability.
Lead evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical feasibility.
Lead communities of practice to promote the use of leading-edge technologies across software engineering.
Design and implement RESTful APIs and web services within cloud environments.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification in Software Engineering and 5+ years of applied experience.
6+ years of experience in IT with strong CS fundamentals including algorithms, data structures, operating systems, and programming languages.
5+ years of experience building mission-critical enterprise applications using Java and the Spring ecosystem (Core, Boot, Cloud).
Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
Advanced proficiency in J2EE and Core Java including Java 17 features like multithreading, concurrency, and streaming.
Strong object-oriented design skills and experience with REST architecture for designing and implementing APIs.
3+ years of experience on private cloud (PCF) or public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP).
In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems (preferred); proficiency in automation, CI/CD, and agile methodologies (preferred).
