Lead Software Engineer Java, Platform Engineering

What you'll do

• Design and build scalable, secure Java/J2EE-based shared services for the global product ecosystem.
• Act as a lead generalist across application architecture, infrastructure, security, and scalability.
• Translate business requirements from product partners into technical architectures for shared services.
• Define and formalize best practices for API design, security standards, and service scalability.
• Implement cloud-native, containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes to ensure high availability.
• Partner with Security teams to implement secure API gateways and authentication mechanisms.
• Analyze system defects and performance metrics to drive long-term platform improvements.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership to foster organizational growth and excellence.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or 7 years with an Advanced degree, or 4 years with a PhD, or 13+ years total experience.
• Work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
• 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree or 6+ years with a PhD (preferred).
• Strong expertise in Java, J2EE, and RESTful services.
• Experience designing scalable, secure distributed systems using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Deep understanding of security requirements, including secure API gateways and authentication/authorization mechanisms.
• Experience with CI/CD-driven architectures, automation-first development, and Unix/Linux platforms.
• Proven track record in technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.
