Lead Software Engineer – Cloud Native Platforms (GCP) is a technical leadership role focused on designing, building, and operating secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud-native platforms on Google Cloud Platform. You will develop mission-critical services to support high transaction volumes while ensuring strict latency and availability requirements in a complex environment. Your daily responsibilities include managing distributed systems, implementing deployment strategies like Canary or Blue-Green, performing performance engineering for throughput optimization, and mentoring engineers. The role requires expertise in Java/J2EE, RESTful APIs, microservices, Kubernetes (GKE), Docker, and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform. You will also utilize CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and agentic workflows to enhance production operations. This position addresses the technical challenges of maintaining high-availability systems within the payments and fintech domain while ensuring robust security and automated recovery mechanisms.
Design, develop, and operate secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud-native platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Build distributed systems capable of supporting high transaction volumes with strict latency and availability requirements.
Drive performance engineering initiatives including throughput optimization, capacity planning, and application profiling.
Implement modern deployment strategies such as Canary, Blue-Green deployments, and automated rollback mechanisms.
Translate business requirements into extensible, resilient, and maintainable technical solutions.
Lead architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical decision-making processes for the engineering organization.
Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root-cause analysis to drive long-term reliability improvements.
Mentor engineers and leverage agentic workflows to improve developer productivity and code quality.
What we're looking for
Must have 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 7+ years with an Advanced degree, or 4+ years with a PhD, or 13+ years total experience.
Experience in enterprise, fintech, payments, or highly regulated environments (preferred).
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including GKE, monitoring, logging, networking, and security services (preferred).
Deep expertise in Java/J2EE, RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems (preferred).
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and modern software delivery practices (preferred).
Experience designing high-throughput, low-latency applications for large transaction volumes (preferred).
Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), deployment automation, and DevOps practices (preferred).
Ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction across multiple teams (preferred).
