JOB TITLE: Lead Software Engineer, Java Microservices/API
As a Lead Software Engineer within Corporate Technology, you will join an agile team to build and deliver secure, scalable, cloud-native backend services and RESTful APIs. You will lead the design, development, and production support of distributed systems, ensuring high availability and performance. Your daily work involves coding in Java and Spring Boot, managing microservice architectures, and deploying containerized applications using Docker on AWS ECS. You will optimize data models in PostgreSQL and drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices for code review and testing. Key responsibilities include performing rigorous code reviews, managing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring secure software delivery. You will solve complex technical problems by designing resilient systems that meet strict operational standards within a regulated environment.
Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, cloud-native backend services and RESTful APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
Provide technical leadership across the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, coding standards, testing, and production support.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
Establish standards for validating AI-generated outputs, including secure coding reviews, correctness checks, and performance validation.
Develop and deploy cloud-native services on AWS using ECS, Docker, and automated CI/CD delivery practices.
Design, optimize, and maintain data models, schemas, and queries in PostgreSQL to ensure data integrity and performance.
Produce and review architecture, technical design, and implementation artifacts to ensure alignment with enterprise security and operational standards.
Analyze application telemetry and quality metrics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement in system reliability.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Strong hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade applications using Java and Spring Boot.
Demonstrated experience building and supporting RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed service-oriented systems.
Practical cloud-native development experience with AWS, including ECS, containers, and cloud deployment patterns (preferred).
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and understanding responsible AI usage in engineering workflows.
Hands-on experience with Docker, containerized applications, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and DevOps engineering practices.
Solid experience with PostgreSQL, including relational data modeling, query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning.
Proven ability to lead technical design discussions, review code, mentor engineers, and promote engineering best practices.
