The Lead Software Engineer - Java, Kafka, AWS joins the Commercial & Investment Bank Payments team to build and deliver trusted market-leading technology products. The role requires applying agile methodologies, including continuous integration and continuous delivery, to ensure application resiliency and security. You will solve complex technical problems within the financial services industry to improve the operational stability of software applications and systems.

What you'll do

Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions to solve complex technical problems.
Write secure, high-quality production code and perform code reviews for other team members.
Lead the triage and resolution of ad hoc, client-impacting technical issues.
Automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve the operational stability of software systems.
Lead evaluation sessions with internal and external teams to probe architectural designs and technical credentials.
Own the full delivery of features including design, implementation, testing, and production support.
Lead communities of practice to drive the adoption of leading-edge technologies across the firm.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages.
Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including continuous integration/continuous delivery, application resiliency, and security.
Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline like cloud, AI, or machine learning.
In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its technology systems.
Practical cloud-native experience.
Proficiency with Java with Spring Boot, JavaScript, Kafka, and SQL and NoSQL databases (preferred).
Cloud certifications (preferred).
Experience mentoring junior talent (preferred).
