Lead Software Engineer (Java and Python) - Enterprise Technology Data Protection & Recovery joins the Software Engineering team to build and deliver trusted, scalable technology products. This role involves providing technical leadership for the Enterprise Technology Data Protection & Recovery product line, where you will own end-to-end architecture for critical Java services and design Python-based microservices. You will develop secure production code, manage availability SLOs, and champion observability and SRE practices. Key technologies include Java, Python, Spring Boot, Kafka, AWS, and Git. You will also integrate SAST/DAST tools, manage secrets hygiene, and drive AI-assisted engineering practices. The work focuses on solving complex problems in resiliency engineering, disaster recovery objectives, and maintaining evidence chain of custody within a secure software development life cycle.

What you'll do

Own the end-to-end architecture for critical Java services, including API contracts, event schemas, and cross-service standards.
Design, develop, and review secure, high-quality production code in Java while mentoring engineers through code reviews.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Manage availability SLOs, latency budgets, and error budgets to ensure resilient service design.
Partner with engineering leads to conduct threat modeling and integrate SAST/DAST into the secure SDLC.
Champion observability by instrumenting metrics, logs, and traces and leading incident response and blameless postmortems.
Advance data protection capabilities by maintaining evidence chains of custody and conducting restore validation exercises.
Support CI/CD quality by codifying automated tests, coverage targets, and progressive delivery plans like canary or blue-green deployments.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Experience with expert-level Java proficiency, including collections, concurrency, memory management, and performance tuning.
Strong experience with Spring Boot, microservices, API-focused event-driven design, and idempotency.
Expert-level experience designing and implementing Python-based microservices.
Deep knowledge of resiliency engineering patterns and disaster recovery objectives with hands-on practice in DR tests and chaos exercises.
Secure SDLC expertise including threat modeling, SAST/DAST integration, dependency risk management, and encryption standards.
Practical experience with Kafka and other messaging platforms, including topic design and transactional semantics.
Proficiency with build tools, CI/CD systems, Git, containers, orchestration, and AWS (preferred).
