As a Java/Python Lead Software Engineer within the Data Technology space for Consumer & Community Banking, you will join an agile team to build secure, stable, and scalable technology products. You will also manage microservices, CI/CD toolchains, and observability. This role solves complex design problems by ensuring operational excellence, secure coding, and responsible AI usage within the software development life cycle.

What you'll do

Design and develop secure, high-quality production code for cloud-native services on AWS.
Lead system design and implementation for APIs, standalone services, and event-driven components.
Drive the adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Establish measurable validation standards for AI-assisted workflows including secure coding and automated testing.
Apply SDLC toolchain expertise in CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and observability to improve reliability.
Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering teams, contractors, and vendors.
Serve as a subject matter expert to advocate for firmwide frameworks, tools, and engineering practices.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability for production services.
Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages including Java, Python, or Go.
Strong experience with AWS services to host APIs, run applications, and implement event-driven services.
Experience organizing Terraform workspaces and developing Terraform code for infrastructure as code.
Experience designing and developing microservices, backend services, and backend data models for relational and/or NoSQL databases.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and coaching on responsible AI use.
Experience with messaging systems, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, TDD, and secure coding principles (preferred).
