As an AI Java AWS Lead Software Engineering, you will join the Consumer & Community Banking Trust and Security Team as a core technical contributor. You will design, develop, test, and support secure, scalable, and resilient software solutions while building RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend services. Your daily work involves developing production code using Java, Spring Boot, AWS cloud technologies, and Kafka. You will lead technical design discussions, troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, and drive engineering best practices like CI/CD and automated testing. A primary responsibility is driving team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices for code review, refactoring, and incident analysis. You will ensure responsible AI use regarding data sensitivity and security within a highly controlled, regulated technology environment focused on trust and risk.

What you'll do

Design, develop, test, and deploy secure, scalable software using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, and Kafka.
Build and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven backend integrations.
Develop high-quality production code and perform code reviews to improve team engineering standards.
Drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices for code review, testing, and refactoring.
Lead technical design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions for highly available applications.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues across cloud infrastructure, eventing platforms, and integrated systems.
Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability to improve production stability.
Establish validation standards for secure coding and responsible AI use within the development lifecycle.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot with experience.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and setting validation standards for outputs.
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
Experience designing and building RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed backend services.
Practical experience developing, deploying, or supporting applications using AWS cloud technologies.
Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms.
Expertise with containerized application delivery and Kubernetes-based platforms (preferred).
