JOB TITLE: Lead, Project Engineering
The Lead, Project Engineering will serve as the Deputy Chief Engineer and Engineering Project Owner, working alongside the Chief Engineer to manage radio products. This role involves technical and managerial leadership over product development from conception to end of life, ensuring deliverables meet capability, budget, schedule, and quality commitments. Key responsibilities include defining product roadmaps, developing Integrated Project Plans, and overseeing IRAD/EAID projects. The individual will collaborate with hardware, software, systems, and integration teams to drive engineering productivity, value engineering, and product commonality. Required skills include project management, Earned Value Management System experience, and familiarity with DevOps or Agile environments. The role addresses technical challenges in tactical radio products, including product obsolescence, critical part shortages, and the integration of new systems into the factory.
Define product roadmaps and capability sets in collaboration with Product Line and Program Management.
Develop Integrated Project Plans (IPP) to document scope, budget, schedule, and project risks.
Monitor project progress and guide teams through technical content, cost, and schedule deliverables.
Coordinate with hardware, software, and systems leads to ensure accountability for established deadlines.
Drive engineering productivity by improving project management processes, tools, and metric collection.
Manage product quality, costs, yield improvements, and work in progress (WIP).
Resolve product obsolescence issues and manage critical part shortages.
Support new business opportunities by identifying engineering scope and partnering on Basis of Estimates.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant engineering development and project leadership experience.
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
Minimum of 13 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
Ability to obtain a US security clearance.
Domain knowledge and experience with tactical radio products (preferred).
Leadership capability to guide multi-functional engineering teams without formal supervisory role (preferred).
Demonstrated experience managing products through design, development, integration and test phases including Technical, Cost, Schedule, Risk (preferred).
