Lead Manufacturing Engineer (Starlink PCBA) joins the manufacturing engineering team to oversee Starlink PCBA production and AI compute hardware. This role involves leading a team of engineers and specialists to manage SMT, post-processing, and testing processes while implementing plug-and-play systems for high-volume throughput. The engineer will own the relationship between development and production teams, managing technical documentation, recruiting, and mentoring staff. Key responsibilities include optimizing physical production layouts for material flow, driving design for manufacturing and test best practices, identifying automation opportunities, and managing tooling and inventory. Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field and experience with high-reliability electronics assemblies, PCB fabrication, and electromechanical components. The role focuses on scaling products from design to high-volume production while ensuring quality, delivery, and cost metrics are met within the satellite and space infrastructure domain.
Lead a team of engineers and specialists focused on Starlink PCBA manufacturing.
Oversee SMT, post-processing manufacturing processes, and testing for high-volume production.
Implement plug-and-play processes capable of supporting over 3 million units per year.
Manage the physical production layout to optimize material flow from receiving through assembly.
Influence hardware design to improve manufacturability and drive Design for Test (DFT) best practices.
Identify automation opportunities, define requirements, and manage the implementation of automated solutions.
Develop and maintain technical documentation and ensure all records are updated to current designs.
Manage production line tooling, inventory, training, and build processes.
What we're looking for
Bachelor of science in aerospace, mechanical, systems, electrical, or manufacturing engineering.
3+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee to meet ITAR requirements.
Master's degree in an engineering discipline (preferred).
Previous experience leading a team of high performing engineers and/or specialists (preferred).
Experience with the design and manufacturing of high reliability electronics assemblies (preferred).
Proficiency in electronics manufacturing techniques, processes, and equipment including EEE parts, PCB, PCBA, lamination, electromechanical, and test (preferred).
Experience implementing automation, transitioning products to high volume, or working with ERP/MRP/MES systems (preferred).
