As an Automation Build Engineer, Development (Starlink), you will join the Development Operations team to lead large-scale projects and optimize fabrication and integration processes. You will be responsible for developing standardized procedures, managing the build and configuration of modular automation assets from raw material purchase to final handoff, and coordinating with supply chain and engineering teams to meet program milestones. Your daily work involves creating manufacturing documentation, designing tooling for repeatability, and investigating non-conforming products. The role requires expertise in design for manufacturability, reliability, and maintenance. Key technical skills include 3D CAD software such as NX, Catia, or Solidworks, SQL database proficiency, and experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, and Statistical Process Control. You will solve complex manufacturing problems to improve shop throughput and safety within the Starlink product development environment.

What you'll do

  • Manage the build, configuration, and installation of modular automation assets from raw material purchase to final handoff.
  • Develop and implement new manufacturing processes and workflows to increase shop throughput and personnel safety.
  • Act as the primary liaison between automation, supply chain, and production teams to ensure infrastructure meets program milestones.
  • Prepare technical documentation for production transitions, including assembly procedures, integration instructions, and bills of materials.
  • Design, develop, validate, and implement tooling to ensure manufacturing repeatability and efficiency.
  • Lead troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and corrective actions for non-conforming products and components.
  • Coordinate with external vendors to fabricate piece parts and sub-assemblies to meet production capacity needs.
  • Drive design updates in response to manufacturing issues, part obsolescence, and changing system requirements.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in design, manufacturing, and/or production of mechanical or electrical hardware systems.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible for required export control authorizations.
  • 2+ years of experience implementing design for manufacture for electromechanical systems (preferred).
  • 2+ years of professional experience in design and/or production of mechanical or electronics hardware systems (preferred).
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations for design and manufacturing readiness reviews (preferred).
  • Experience transitioning products from design to manufacturing in a fast-paced iterative environment (preferred).
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software, DFMEA/PFMEA methodologies, SQL databases, and SPC knowledge (preferred).
