Lead, Electrical Engineering - FPGA will lead firmware engineering activities within the Space Mission Systems segment to provide mission solutions for the space domain across defense, intelligence, and commercial applications. Daily responsibilities include developing HDL code, creating testbench environments, performing constraint-driven place and route, and conducting timing analysis. The candidate will work with VHDL, version control tools like Git or Subversion, and Xilinx, Microsemi, and Intel tool suites. Technical expertise is required in high-speed memory interfaces, serial protocols such as PCIe and SpaceWire, and various control protocols including I2C and SPI to solve complex engineering challenges specifically for space environments.

What you'll do

Support proposal efforts by estimating and planning end-to-end FPGA development projects.
Decompose system and box-level requirements into specific FPGA requirements and specifications.
Architect solutions based on requirements and implement them across various FPGA technologies.
Lead small engineering teams to execute the development of reliable and robust FPGA designs.
Establish and enforce consistent firmware development processes across all FPGA designs.
Develop HDL code for modules and top-levels while creating testbench and verification environments.
Perform synthesis, constraint-driven place and route, and timing analysis on targeted technologies.
Verify performance through simulations and integrate tested designs onto circuit card assemblies.

What we're looking for

A Bachelor's degree and 9 years of experience, a Graduate degree and 7 years of experience, or 13 years of experience without a degree are required.
Ability to obtain a Federal Secret security clearance.
Existing Secret or Top-Secret security clearance (preferred).
Thorough understanding of VHDL, the FPGA design process, and associated tools (preferred).
Thorough understanding of version control best practices and tools like Subversion or Git (preferred).
Experience with high speed memory interfaces, serial protocols, and various control protocols (preferred).
Proficiency with Xilinx, Microsemi, and Intel Tool Suites for synthesis, place and route, and timing analysis (preferred).
U.S. citizens.
