What you'll do

  • Maintain hardware related to the IBM Infrastructure Group in a production or development raised floor environment.
  • Perform physical tasks including racking, stacking, and cabling power and network components for new hardware.
  • Un-rack and pack old hardware and cabling as part of the hardware lifecycle process.
  • Follow specific lab safety procedures relevant to the designated raised floor environments.
  • Utilize specialized hardware lifecycle workload applications to manage equipment.
  • Complete required training hours and pass certification tests to develop essential technical competencies.
  • Perform physical labor including lifting large hardware units in a fast-paced environment.

What we're looking for

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Associate's Degree or College Diploma (preferred).
  • Willingness to complete all requirements of the apprenticeship program.
  • Basic knowledge or experience in electrical engineering sciences such as safety, theory, and testing equipment.
  • Experience with physical computer hardware installation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment including team lifting large units.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Ability to work independently in an organized manner.
