As an Infrastructure Engineer III within the Payments Technology Strategic Initiative Office group, you will manage the FinOps book of work with a primary focus on AWS infrastructure. You will own and maintain a centrally managed optimization backlog, overseeing the full lifecycle from identification and sizing to execution and value realization. Your daily responsibilities include managing capacity risks, ensuring end-to-end monitoring of applications, and utilizing enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to accelerate monitoring and documentation while maintaining strict security standards. The role requires expertise in Terraform for infrastructure-as-code, proficiency in scripting languages, and experience with public and private cloud technologies. You will also work with Snowflake and Databricks platforms. This position addresses the technical challenge of optimizing data systems running at scale through proactive capacity management and automated remediation workflows within a complex financial payments environment.
Manage the Payments SIO FinOps book of work with a primary focus on AWS infrastructure optimization.
Maintain a centralized FinOps backlog including intake, triage, prioritization, and execution tracking for cloud and on-prem platforms.
Execute a repeatable operating cadence to identify, size, approve, and validate cost and performance optimizations.
Apply technical problem-solving to improve data systems running at scale and ensure end-to-end application monitoring.
Use enterprise-authorized AI tools to accelerate capacity analysis, documentation, and the identification of recurring risks.
Drive daily activities for standard capacity processes and partner with teams to identify and remediate potential risks.
Make significant technical decisions for projects involving multiple technologies and applications.
Implement reuse-first and AI-assisted workflows to improve remediation processes while ensuring security and resiliency standards.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
Strong infrastructure-as-code (IaC) experience using Terraform.
Strong knowledge of one or more infrastructure disciplines such as hardware, networking, databases, storage, deployment, automation, scaling, and resilience.
Experience with multiple cloud technologies including the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds.
Strong knowledge of one or more scripting languages.
Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for infrastructure workflows with strong validation habits and data sensitivity awareness.
Ability to review and validate AI-assisted recommendations while ensuring outcomes align with resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.
Experience delivering AWS FinOps optimization in a large-scale enterprise environment (preferred); knowledge of Snowflake or Databricks optimization (preferred).
