Head of Safety, Robot Operations

What you'll do

• Define and execute the long-term safety strategy, policies, and governance mechanisms for autonomous robot operations.
• Partner with Engineering and Product teams to identify risks and influence safer hardware and software designs.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions to eliminate recurring safety issues.
• Develop and monitor safety metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting systems to track performance.
• Manage emergency response, crisis management, and business continuity preparedness for all operations.
• Conduct comprehensive audits to evaluate operational safety, process compliance, and facility readiness.
• Execute simulated high-severity incident exercises to validate response playbooks and communication protocols.
• Build and mentor a high-performing safety organization while managing training programs for technicians and operators.

What we're looking for

• 12+ years of experience leading safety programs in high-reliability environments like robotics, logistics, or aviation.
• Proven experience building enterprise-scale safety management systems from the ground up.
• Strong expertise in operational risk management, hazard identification, and incident investigation.
• Experience leading safety audits, compliance reviews, and operational governance programs.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives and cross-functional engineering and operations teams.
• Ability to use data analytics to identify trends and predict risks.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Safety, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or a related technical field.
• Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHST, Six Sigma, or equivalent are preferred.
