TL;DR · Engineering Technician, RF Systems V

As an Engineering Technician - RF Systems 5 within the Global Products Group, you will provide advanced hands-on technical support to engineering teams in an R&D laboratory environment. You will be responsible for the design, test, modification, assembly, and validation of high-power RF, electrical, and electromechanical systems used in semiconductor processing equipment. Your daily work involves troubleshooting complex system and component-level issues, performing fault isolation, and conducting root cause analysis for failures. You will operate specialized tools including VNAs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power meters, and DMMs while performing soldering and SMD rework. The role requires interpreting electrical schematics and mechanical drawings to support prototype bring-up and NPI activities. You will manage lab infrastructure and ensure compliance with safety, ESD, and cleanroom protocols while solving technical challenges in RF and plasma technology development.

What you'll do

  • Test, calibrate, and troubleshoot RF, electrical, electromechanical, and vacuum systems using schematics and test plans.
  • Assemble, configure, and diagnose high-power, high-voltage RF subsystems including matching networks and power delivery components.
  • Perform system-level and PCBA-level troubleshooting to conduct root cause analysis for electrical and mechanical failures.
  • Operate specialized RF and electronic test equipment such as VNAs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and power meters.
  • Execute component-level rework, repairs, and soldering/SMD rework in compliance with lab and ESD standards.
  • Support prototype bring-up, integration, and validation testing for new product introduction activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of test results, procedures, build records, and troubleshooting notes.
  • Manage laboratory infrastructure, including equipment calibration tracking and safe operation of high-voltage systems.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience supporting electrical, RF, electromechanical, or semiconductor equipment in lab, manufacturing, or R&D environments.
  • Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, repairing, testing, or troubleshooting complex equipment and electronic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with computer-based data systems, engineering tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Associate’s degree, technical certificate, diploma, or higher education in electronics, RF, electrical engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience with high-power RF systems, matching networks, sensors, calibration, and board-level soldering/SMD rework (preferred).
  • Familiarity with semiconductor capital equipment, vacuum systems, cleanroom protocols, and NPI activities (preferred).
