Engineering Lead, Business Onboarding

What you'll do

• Lead, coach, and mentor a team of engineers to support their professional growth and performance.
• Collaborate with product managers to shape the technical roadmap and ensure scalable delivery of product goals.
• Ensure the engineering team is well-resourced and capable of executing on their planned roadmap.
• Maintain high standards for code quality and technical excellence while staying close to the technology stack.
• Manage the health, productivity, and culture of the engineering team through ownership and continuous improvement.
• Align team output with broader company goals by collaborating with other engineering leads across the organization.
• Own the hiring, growth, and development of team members to increase their impact at Wise.

What we're looking for

• You must have strong, hands-on technical experience in Java and modern technology stacks.
• You must have experience with REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
• You must have proven experience leading and mentoring software engineers.
• You should have a strong product and customer mindset for building customer-facing products.
• You must have experience building distributed, high-scalability systems and microservices architectures.
• You must be an effective communicator capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• You must be able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional peers such as designers, product managers, and analysts.
