Join Wise as an Engineering Lead for Payout Core, a newly formed team dedicated to managing all outgoing payments through efficient routing and execution. As both tech lead and people manager, you will ensure high-quality technical solutions by setting the architectural direction, overseeing code quality, and driving the development of a product-agnostic payout platform. You will also manage team growth, set goals, and foster individual engineer development while collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and implement the long-term vision for Payout Core. Proficiency in Java or Kotlin, Spring framework, microservices architecture, and relational databases is essential, along with strong communication skills and a track record of leading high-performing engineering teams. Experience in payments infrastructure and building reliable systems in high-traffic environments is preferred.

What we're looking for
Experience as a tech lead or engineering manager with proven track record in developing engineers.
Strong product mindset, prioritizing customer needs and making data-driven decisions.
Extensive experience with Java or Kotlin, including Spring framework proficiency.
Skilled in working with relational databases for query optimization and schema design.
Advocate for best coding practices, testable code, and active participation in code reviews.
Comfortable operating in ambiguity and defining new team structures.
Ability to articulate a technical vision and create a concrete roadmap.
